Dordtselaanportretten Deventer
Three very different artists created a sort of installation in the wide space of Kunstenlab Deventer.
Gilbert van Drunen made a large sculpture by pouring clay over his enormous former ceramic works.
Willy de Cauter placed a very light and nearly transparant series of architectonic-furniture-like objects, relating to skills and crafts like painting and plastering.
I myself installed twelve sound points in the space where one can meet a passer-by from the Dordtselaan, the street where I live on the Rotterdam south bank.
Those 36 spoken portraits, that form a sort of soft sound layer over the entire space, are the results of descriptions that I made for the project 'Verhage, Dordtselaan portretten' during 6 weeks in september/october 2008

technical | the 36 portraits were written and read by myself and put on 12 cd's with long silences in between. They sounded from 12 small speaker-sets spread over the entire space and hanging from the ceiling. The overlappings were inpredictable. |
