News of the world
From sound/text fragments that I recorded from my public artwork Beijerkoppen I choose a short sentence which I try to copy in text and intonation as good as I can.
For each performance I will collect new fragments, recordings, in order to stay close to the news actuality. I slowly train myself in listening and immediately reproducing the fragments of speech.

further information | Beijerkoppen' is a project in public space by Paul Cox and myself on the South bank in Rotterdam. Beijerkoppen is based on a searching machine which continually generates fragments from tv-news programs from all over the world. The system collects and shows – close to real time – moments in which only the news reader is in view, thus forming a continuous living portrait gallery. |
