spiraal 4 - spiral 4
On the floor a circle has been drawn in a chalk with a radius of 3.75 meters. Along the entire line is a white nylon ribbon, attached to a weight at the end. Attached to the weight is a rope measuring the radius of the circle.
I step into the circle and carry the weight in such a way that it remains above the line of the circle. I gradually make my circles smaller towards the center while increasing my walking-speed. In order to make the weight – with the ribbon attached to it – glide above the line of the circle, I am forced to increase my speed, and at the same time to let the rope run out. In the meantime the entire length of the ribbon is moving.
When I have arrived in the center, the speed is so high, that the ribbon gets off the floor. At the hightes speed the ribbon turns in one plane at eye level and thus forms a white circle of the same size as the one originally on the floor.
