I was invited to contribute a work to SQUID, an online archive for texts in (or as) art.
This Swedish/Finnish/Dutch artists initiative, is interested in texts not written by art historians/curators but by artists, in relation to, or as part of their works. I was also invited by Simon Benson to contribute a text work to his project in the Chest of Drawers at Phoebus Gallery in Rotterdam. Writing, as a way of translating observations into texts as part of time/space/related works, is a substantial element of my work as an artist. In Sound scape the actual writing itself is subject and material of the work: I describe as precise as possible the sounds that appear when I write with a pen on a sheet of paper. While I write I pronounce the text in the same speed as the writing. SQUID Helsinki 20.02.2010 I will perform the English version of Sound scape live for an audience in Helsinki on the 20th of february. Both the English and the Dutch version will be audible via the SQUID website. Phoebus Rotterdam 31.01 - 25.04 Simon Benson curated a project of text works in the Chest of Drawers. In my contribution the Dutch-spoken version of Sound scape will sound from a small loudspeaker when opening my drawer. http://www.squidproject.net/contributions/42.htm http://www.phoebus.nl see, read and hear more: Sound scape |
